The point of this article is to discuss common vulnerabilities shared by viruses in general, instead of just trying to target the uniqueness of each virus. Through this avenue, every individual can have a better foundation of how to protect themselves against viruses and take action today.


Informaton about Viruses

· How viruses infect: cellular attachment/entry, integrate into DNA/RNA machinery of the cell, create new virus particles, and then leave the cell to go invade new cells

· Mechanisms of viral disease

  1. Direct infection and triggering of tissue destruction, rapid cell death

  2. Immunosuppression

  3. Sustained cellular dysfunction and slow cell death

  4. Cytokine storm (overactive immune system), loss of blood volume and blood pressure

· Viral mutation, can be modulated by nutritional interventions. Mutation is in proportion to the body’s free radical load / oxidative burden. Thus, oxidative stress promotes viral mutagenesis and disease persistence/spread while antioxidant therapies reduce it.

· Nutritional deficiencies impair the body’s immune system, and promote viral mutations

· Viral vulnerability: Viruses cannot replicate on their own. They can only do so by hijacking the machinery of a cell to replicate. NFkB is a component that is part of the viral replication process within the cell. NFkB is not subject to mutation like the virus because it is part of the human cell. NFkB can be inhibited or modulated through nutrition.

· You can activate NFkB (thus increase viral replication) by: physical inactivity, excess weight, nutritional deficiency, overconsumption of dietary fats (especially saturated) and simple carbs in large amounts

· Avoid poor high-carbohydrate high-fat foods, which are immunosuppressive, highly oxidative, and pro-inflammatory. High carb load promotes activation of Nfkb, which then promotes viral replication.

· We all have multiple viral infections all the time whether we know it or not: Exogenous, Endogenous, and Bacteriophages of gut bacteria

· Anytime a person has an active viral infection, they are also activating other viral infections that they may or may not be aware of. Bacterial toxins, such as those stemming from Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), and any other inflammatory stimuli may also promote viral replication.


Other points:

· Mentions of Ebola peaked right before general elections in 2014. Do not let a virus influence how you vote or what is priority to you (ex. Defense and military strategy vs public services such as public education)

· Be aware that the medications Procainamide and Hydralazine can indirectly encourage viral replication. Consider talking with your doctor about other options.

1. Antiviral, blocking virus acquisition, targeting the virus directly, blocking viral mutation
