Event this weekend during 10th Anniversary Celebration at the African American Library at the Gregor

This week marks the 10th year celebration of the African American Library at the Gregory School. The Gregory School was the first public school for African Americans in Houston. The library has an archive collection from pre-Civil War to contemporary items.

This is a 3-day event this weekend, of which I will be participating in the 'Health and the City' talk this Friday, 5:00-7:00 PM. Some of the topics that will be discussed:

  • Community health

  • Health gaps

  • Clinical studies being mainly based on cis-gender white males and creating studies to foster best practices for the Black community

  • Discussion and awareness of therapies available

I highly encourage you to come see this historic site. It is amazing just to walk the grounds, knowing some of its history.
